Version 8.4.0 is the first SDK release for SpeedTree 8. It starts at 8.4 since this was the current version of the Modeler at the time of the release and synchronization of the versions of separate but related products was necessary.

Most importantly, this release is NOT FOR PRODUCTION USE. It is being released to share the details of the new version 8 SpeedTree games pipeline for planning purposes. While it is mostly stable and there will be no further major changes to the pipeline before the production release, it is a preview release and should be used with caution. You’ll also want to install SpeedTree_for_Games_v8.4.0_Windows.exe, as it installs some code and file structures referenced in this document.
