Fan - Lumberyard

This section details the properties of the Fan object when the Modeler is using the Lumberyard wind algorithm.

The direction and strength of the wind are indicated in the upper right corner of the Tree Window.

Settings

The properties in this group control high level wind settings.

Enabled

Use this property to toggle wind on and off in the Tree Window.

Strength

This property sets the strength of the wind.

Note: Most algorithms clamp wind strength to the range [0.0, 1.0]; however, Lumberyard wind strength is unbounded and the strength here corresponds to the magnitude of the wind direction vector in the Lumberyard editor.

Lumberyard

The Lumberyard version of the Modeler mimics the Lumberyard wind algorithm. Set the wind strength to the magnitude of the wind vector in your Lumberyard scene and use the properties in this group to tune the behavior.

Bending

This value corresponds to the main bending value of the vegetation asset in Lumberyard.

Note: The “Bending” value is not exported from SpeedTree (there is no place to store it in the “.cgf” format). You will have to enter this value manually after you import the SpeedTree “.cgf” file. All other wind values are stored in the exported file.
Branch Amplitude

Specifies how much the branches can move as a function of wind strength and the blue vertex color. The green vertex color offsets this motion in time. All materials will have this value set on import.

Edges Amplitude

Specifies how much leaves and fronds can move as a function of wind strength and the red vertex color. All materials will have this value set on import.

Detail Frequency

Specifies how fast edges can move as a function of wind strength and the red vertex color. All materials will have this value set on import.
